We are still here! Been quiet on the Blog and Newsletter scene!
I am back now, with the news that there is only one country or island group in the South Pacific that is open to travel:
French Polynesia or otherwise known as Tahiti.
Tahiti has been open to tourists since July 15, 2020.
If you wish to travel to the islands you must:
- Take a very specific COVID-19 test within three days prior to departure.
- Once you have your results and they are negative, you must fill in an online form with the French Polynesian government.
- You should have a travel insurance policy, but you can also take on all responsibility for costs should you become positive for COVID-19 while in country. If you do become positive in the country you will be immediately taken to Papeete, Tahiti where they have a quarantine and medical facility.
- On the fourth day of being in the islands you will self-administer another test for COVID-19 and turn it in to the local authorities.
Yes, there are new requirements, but the experience in the islands gives you a wonderful experience.
